Our History
Founded in 1966 as Alberta Traffic Supply Ltd., ATS Traffic began as Western Canada’s first barricade rental company, offering safer alternatives to traditional flare pots. From these early beginnings, we’ve grown into Canada’s leading provider of traffic control, signage, and intelligent transportation solutions. For nearly six decades, we have supported infrastructure development across the country by helping communities move safely and efficiently.
Over the years, ATS Traffic has expanded its capabilities and geographic reach through the strategic acquisition of respected industry leaders. These include Guardian Traffic Services, Trafco Canada, and Inprotect Systems; each contributing specialized expertise in traffic management and safety services. More recently, the acquisitions of Direct Traffic, AGS, and Interprovincial Traffic Services (ITS) have further strengthened our presence and capabilities across Canada and into the US Pacific Northwest, bringing together decades of operational excellence, equipment expertise, and ITS innovation under one national brand.
Today, ATS Traffic operates as a unified, Canadian-owned company with 14 branches in Canada and two in the United States. Our team remains focused on delivering integrated traffic safety solutions – from equipment rentals and signage manufacturing to smart work zones and data-driven traffic systems.
